In Indonesian shadow puppet, wayang, Wanara described as “tailed human”.
This word referred to human + primate creature in the tales of Ramayana and Mahabharata, that has a brave personality and always curious about everything. The word Wanara formed from “Wana-nara”, means human (nara) who lived in woods (wana). Written in Ramayana that a group of Wanara help Prince Rama search for his love, Sita, and also join Rama to fight the Sita’s kidnapper, the mighty Rahwana.
Wanara’s typical characters are witty, playful, reliable, adventurous, honest, pure, loyal, brave, dan kind hearted.
